"We have never regretted our decision"

“We considered buying a holiday home of our own, but didn’t want to be tied to one property in one location. With the Holiday Property Bond, we enjoy an interest in lots of different holiday properties, in lots of different locations. The properties are as varied as the standards of excellence are uniform.” – Peter Purdom

Peter Purdom and wife Angie joined the Holiday Property Bond “about 20 years ago”. “I do a lot of business in France,” says Peter, “and we thought about buying a place there; but it seemed like too much of a commitment. We looked into timeshare too, but again it seemed too much of a tie: one property, one location, the same block of time year after year…”

“I was flicking through a magazine,” continues Angie, “and came across an ad for HPB. I noticed that the Bond owned properties at Buckland Court, in the Cotswolds – not that far from Kenilworth, where we live. We contacted HPB, went down to Buckland for
a look-see, were impressed with what we found,
asked for an HPB representative to visit us – and that was that.”

“Though I should add, it was a bit of a leap of faith at the time,” Peter interjects. “The Bond then didn’t own anything like as many properties, in as many locations, as it does now. But the people behind it clearly had plans to expand – not just pipe-dreams, but a well thought out strategy. Let’s just say, we have never regretted our decision.”

Asked about their favourite, however, and the answer is unequivocal: “Stigliano! We just love Tuscany – and Siena [only about 20 minutes from the Bond’s Tuscan home] is one of our favourite cities.” Though there are a number they still particularly want to visit: Merlewood, HPB’s newest southern Lake District home is one, Langton House in Dorset is another, and they’d love to return to Tigh Mor one day too.

“But that’s the great thing about HPB,” says Peter. “We know that wherever we go, the standard of accommodation and facilities will be superb. But the flexibility, in terms of both dates and locations, is just as fantastic – and something we never could have enjoyed had we bought our own place.”
