A family affair with HPB

A family affair with HPB

In 1993 Tracy Watson’s dad, Edwin and stepmum Barbara from West Yorkshire went on an HPB holiday with friends. They were so impressed they couldn’t wait to become Bondholders themselves. Thirty years on, Edwin is still enjoying his Bond holidays and Tracy and husband Nicholas have a Bond of their own…

Tracy takes up the story, “Dad and Barbara absolutely loved the Bond; the choice of locations and high quality of accommodation plus the wonderfully helpful on-site staff, wherever and whenever they went. Over the years they visited many different sites, but their favourites were Lanzarote, both the old development at Playa Bastian and the new one at Santa Rosa, Rocha Brava on the Algarve, Henllys on Anglesey and Tigh Mor in the Trossachs. My sisters and I often joined them on family holidays going to St Siméon near Paris and Braithwaite Court in the Lake District. Sadly Barbara passed away a few years ago but he’s still enjoying his Bond holidays with friends. In fact, he’s just returned from, yes you’ve guessed it, Santa Rosa!

“We too had many happy family holidays at Santa Rosa when our children were growing up, but we can’t compete with dad. He’s been there more than twenty five times!”

The family love affair with HPB continued and in 2018 after retiring, Tracy and husband Nicholas became Bondholders too.

“We benefitted so much from using dad’s Bond when our children, Laura and Adam, were growing up,” continues Tracy, “staying at numerous sites including Duloe Manor in Cornwall and Merlewood near Cumbria, as well as one of HPB’s Tenancy properties at Rio Selva on Lake Garda. We have so many happy holiday memories! Becoming Bondholders seemed the obvious thing to do when we retired. Having the luxury of time has enabled us to visit out-of-season and make use of the Points-free breaks. Last year we spent Burns Night at Coo Palace in Galloway, a month in the spring touring between HPB’s three French sites, then in June we went to St Brides Castle in Pembrokeshire and recently had a glorious two weeks at Rocha Brava, our first visit. We can see why dad loves it so much.”

“Now our children are grown up (Laura is a primary school teacher and Adam is studying for a PhD in Chemistry), they still come on holiday with us whenever they can – next year we’re all planning to return to Merlewood and to St Brides Castle again the following year.”
